Haile Gebreselassie - Haile Estate, SNNPR - Organic

In the south-western end of Ethiopia, located in the SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region) lies the mountainous Haile Estate of Haile Gebreselassie. All of his coffee is RA certified as well as organic, and has 250 hectares (617 acres) reserved for rainforest preservation. The farm is divided into 46 micro-lots with different varieties and processing methods used. The varieties grown are very very close to heirloom and consist of dega, kurume, and wolisho.

Haile was 1 of 10 children and grew up on a coffee plantation where he learned how to grow, harvest, and process coffee. He was an athlete first where he claimed two Olympic gold medals in the 10,000m dash and four consecutive World Championship titles in the same event. Gebrselassie set multiple world records in track and road events, including the marathon. He went on to be an extremely successful entrepreneur and has a Hyundai factory, a hotel chain, movie theater, gym, honey company, 3 schools, and a museum. Haile is considered as one of the most influential people in Africa due to his philanthropy and efforts in giving back to his community.
